Robert Deigh is a communications professional with more than 30 years of experience in PR, public affairs, marketing and journalism.  He has a strong track record of getting his clients’ stories told in the regional, national and international press. He also writes virtually all types of business content including ghost articles for executives. Deigh has helped hundreds of companies and other organizations increase their visibility and build brands by creating strong relationships with key audiences.

Deigh serves as communication counsel to a broad range of organizations: Fortune 500 companies, educational institutions, high-tech firms, healthcare organizations, financial firms, hospitality, defense contractors, the military, federal government, associations and other non-profit groups.  He is also a U.S. Army veteran.

Deigh is author of two public relations books and the winner of three national business book writing awards. His latest book is: "Spark: The Complete Public Relations Guide for Small Business."  It is available on Amazon and, soon, in bookstores.  Also, he is the author of the popular PR book: “How Come No One Knows About Us?” (W Business Books, Los Angeles). Both books are wide use at companies seeking to grow, PR firms, and as textbooks in communication classes at a number of universities. He is also a frequent speaker and workshop leader on smart public relations strategies, business writing and effective media interviewing. Deigh writes extensively on communication topics and ghostwrites byline articles, newsletters and social media content for his clients. He has written or re-written complete website content for dozens of companies. 

Before starting his own company in 2000, Deigh was PR director for Blackboard Inc., in Washington, D.C., an online education company. Before Blackboard, he was communication director of two divisions of America Online, Inc., and senior vice president of a DC-based PR firm.

An award-winning writer and TV producer/director, Deigh also has more than a dozen years of journalism experience.  He was an associate editor of U.S. News & World Report magazine and has written for many other national and regional magazines as well as newspapers, television, radio and online media outlets.

Deigh served for seven years as communications director of the PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) TV network where he was also its national media spokesperson. He was an active-duty U.S. Army public affairs officer in the Panama Canal Zone and at a number of stateside locations. Also, he was an executive speechwriter and public affairs officer at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and a PR director at the American Newspaper Publishers Association.  Deigh earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., and a master’s degree in public relations from The American University in Washington, D.C. 

Deigh is very active in the DC-VA-MD business communities as member of a number of regional organizations.  He is also a part-time musician, performing in bands as a blues, rock and jazz guitarist. He belongs to the Washington Area Music Association and the DC Blues Society.
